I have a Pela pump in my attic which is very effective both for oil changes and for diesel tank bottom gunge extraction. Last time I changed the oil in my engine I cleverly left the pump in said attic but was able to borrow one of those brass ones from my helpful neighbour Marisca. He even provided an empty milk bottle. The Pela is easier to use and there's much less risk of spillage but does have the major disadvantage of taking up a bit more room. Which is why I keep it in the attic.
