My own beloved attended what was doubtless a similar seminary and I never did understand the shiny shoe rule in an all-female establishment. OTOH, I could see where the hairbrush regulations were coming from.

Actually, I asked Dan to pull my post, but he said he was reluctant to as he thought it was developing into a lively debate.
Have to say that when I posted in the first place, that I did it without thinking further than the gov't dig, didn't think of it as a racist post.
In the end I think I ended up digging a hole.
There are however, some forumites who just appear to jump on anything they can, on both sides of the fence, to promote whatever point they are trying to force on whoever, and then the insults start flying, mainly from the righteous, it has to be said.
Hopefully, won't make that mistake again.

Sadder and wiser is probably the best most of us can hope for.
