Just to clarify, I am fairly sure I had Covid-19 whilst skiing in northern Italy in late feb. The symptoms weren't the usual ( I was extremely fatigued, elevated, but not high temp and mild dizziness & nausea for 2 days). So I would like a test, if only to confirm that I did have it, and got over it OK . The antibody test does now exist, and is available in the UK. I am not about to go stravaiging, but when the lockdown eases, and I have had a test, I will feel a bit happier about getting out and about.

‘Coarse Fishing’ I think is the term used for catching fish you don’t eat.. I used to watch those sados sitting on the Loch side catching roach, perch and other tiddlers and putting them all in a net in the shallows. Then when they finished they’d empty the net back in the Loch. Some of the fish would be alive and swim off. Some would float away belly up.

I got talking to one of them once (once was enough) He said the challenge was in outsmarting the fish so you could catch them. Given that the IQ of a fish is about .5 on a good day it didn’t say a lot for the brain power of your average angler...

To add to my jaundiced view if yer average fish murderer the ones I worked with were on average the laziest gits about..think about it - if your hobby it sitting on yer hoop all day staring at a rod hoping it will twitch you aren’t going to be a very dynamic person.

I've been pretty good - started maintaining distance back in March before lock-down started, have been out on my bike the days I haven't had a walk with my wife until Nicola said I could do both - mind you, I didn't know 5 miles was the limit - cut grocery shopping to every 10 days, and otherwise have cut the grass too often, helped with the creation of a rockery and stayed at home like what I was told. Now it looks as if the boat, anti-fouled before lock-down and early in the queue for launching can hit the water but unlike the sailors of Brexitland I'm not supposed to drive much more than 5 miles from home. My risk balancing node says that me sitting alone in a car for an hour on the motorway is just as safe for the population as crawling along for 5 miles. I only want to go to the boat, not go shopping, eating, drinking, socialising, just me (and possibly my wife if it's a nice day) and my boat.
I can guarantee the worthy Ed'burg members of Muirfield will not let Nicola's words stop them from spoiling a good walk round Gullane, so why do I feel so guilty with my thoughts?

Re the travel thing. This is the BBC's interpretation of it:

In addition, people will be able to travel - preferably by walking or cycling - for recreation, although they will be asked to remain "where possible" within or close to their own local area.

"Golf, canoeing, hiking, outdoor swimming, angling" all within 5 miles of home!!!!!! Who, the hell, are the demographic they're aiming at? Hiking is defined as "the activity of going for long walks, especially across country" - needs to be modified to include going round in circles!
Maybe today there will be a clarification.

Hard to take comfort from people being deliberately thick on TOP. Unless they really are that thick, which is always possible. All this "if I was stopped by the police I would just say such and such". For goodness sake, you are being requested (not compelled) to behave in a certain way for the greater good. Its an appeal to your personal sense of civic responsibility. The old saying that rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men cuts both ways - the fools on TOP really should just obey the rules since they clearly lack the wisdom to use them as guidance. I'm getting increasingly cheesed off with the infantile comments on there.

Sense and clarity from Nicola - it looks good for next Thursday. Commonsense is what she wants and most sailors up here have it.

I can't remember the exact words but the message I took, probably because it was what I wanted it to be, was that travel was allowed but congregating at beauty spots was not. She was advocating common sense with stay at home as the default, social distancing if not. I naturally took the message that driving from Edinburgh to Greenock to play boats was acceptable provided I kept to myself and luckily my wife agrees.

The obvious way to check if your eyesight is good enough to drive safely is to drive 60 miles on public roads. I'm relieved he chose English roads for the investigation.
