The Crinan Canal for me . . .

Oh! The Crinan Canal for me,
I don't like the wild raging sea,
It would be too terrific to cross the Pacific,
Or sail to Japan or Fiji.
A life on the Spanish Main,
I think would drive me insane,
The big foaming breakers would give me the shakers,
The Crinan Canal for me.

Chorus:

Oh! The Crinan Canal for me,
I don't like the wild raging sea,
The big foaming breakers would give me the shakers,
The Crinan Canal for me.

It's the Crinan Canal for me,
From sea terrors there you are free,
There's no shark or whale that would make you turn pale,
Or shiver or shake at the knee.
I would nae like leavin' ma bones,
In a locker beside Davy Jones,
From Ardrishaig to Crinan's the best trip A'hve bin in,

Chorus:

Aye the Crinan Canal for me,
It's neither too big nor too wee,
Oh! It's lovely and calm when you're frying your ham,
Or makin' a nice cup of tea.
You can go for a stroll on its banks,
To loosen your muscle bound shanks,
You can darn your socks while you're still in its locks,
The Crinan Canal for me.

Chorus:

And your anither who could show your giving hand of generosity by geeting yer wee globetrotting self tae Ardrishaig. Anyway at this rate there's only me and Muzzy so we may well be going aroond Kintyre once we've met with wee Davey at the Byron Darnton

So when do you think you'll be going through the canal? I could certainly lend a hand on the Monday or possibly on the Tuesday if you're needing it.

It depends a bit on who is aboard. In the days when I had a full complement I thought it would be interesting for them to go through having sample the fleshpots of tarber Loch Fyne. However - its its just Muzzy and me I think we'd be more likely to go spend a night on Sanda (perhaps the Monday) and then wander upt to Gigha on the Tuesday and then up to Gods Armpit on Wednesday.
Thisgs are developing all the time of course and its a few years since I was in the Clyde so would quite like to go that way. D'ye fancy the trip through then?

How many crew do you need? I could maybe lay down the groundwork for a SWMBO's release form for a couple of days.

It was mostly just an offer of help if it was needed but I've never been through and the experience would be good.

Time off work is always at a premium. I had thought I was off the previous weekend and could have added a couple of days on.

However on checking I'm actually off work from the following Friday and if you were to be going through on the Wednesday I could tack a couple of days on at the start without too much difficulty.

I found it a little difficult to understand the german language used by the last message sender...REF Claymore March 29th 07.............................. but I think there are three types of sailor.
The guy/girl who loves the water and boats.
The guy/girl who loves the water and boats  and loves posing.
The guy/girl who just loves posing. {I know of one or two people with wonderful boats who have never had the sails up]

I personally think sailing is a unique & fun recreational activity. And i can't think of any other reasons than that. It gives me the simplest thrills. Complicated yet very relaxing & rewarding
