I have now managed to unfreeze my paypal account (it's remarkable how long snail mail takes from Omaha) and am now able to pay for my burgee. Any more accurate idea of the cost yet?
Or would you prefer cash?

Another call from Prestige - Stu wasn't happy with the result of the printing process so he wants to go back to applique. We are going with the. 200 denier aqua (as per Silkie's avatar) as the sky / background but doubling it up.
Has the pound reached parity with the dollar yet??

Whose bright idea was it to have a burgee anyway?

it's bleeding tortuous for something so simple - too much info sharing, too much consultation, too much democracy - JFDI!!!

Its not Nick's fault he's a victim of some kind of incompetent, possibly scam merchant, in Credit Crunch America. I'd leave him alone if I were you.

There you go again Jack, commenting on things you know nothing about . . . I certainly don't think Stu Fried of Prestige Flags is a scam merchant, or incompetent. Our design and colour requirements are fairly unique, and we decided the applique process might not work due to the sky colour being only available in a thinner nylon. People weren't happy with the alternative colours so we decided to go for a printing process. I was sent a sample for approval - at Prestige's expense - then Stu set up and printed the burgee as ordered. Howver, HE wasn't happy with the quality of the printed flag, so he contacted me to look at a way to get round the colour / thickness problems with the applique process. I doubt that Prestige will make a single cent profit on this order. Stu is I think a rather old-fashioned perfectionist, which is admirable in my book. He will not dispatch a product he is personally unhappy with and he has not charged me before the job is finished.

Sorry if you thought there was too much consultation but that's the way this place is. There are other yachting fora where they do things differently if you don't like this one, as you seem to be at pains to point out . . . and lets face it, you didn't have to open this thread and read it, did you? Were you that bored?

Wow! We are a tad on the sensitive side or is it just a bad day? I have been very supportive of Bluemoment and have paid up for the burgee.
Of course, I don't have to do anything - open posts, contribute or whatever, but forums are for expressing views - including about processes. So maybe there's just a few too many horses of many hands high around and too few SOH checks.
After all it's only a bit of fun, or have I missed the point and this is all for po-faced, anally-retentive types??
Not that I'm suggesting Nick is po-faced or anally-retentive - just to be clear, to be clear.

A liittle seasonal good mood required...... anyway, I shall be happy to fly the burgee in 2009.
Keep us informed Nick, this is a long haul story.
If you wait to deliver until the pound/dollar parity occurs, all I will have to do is repeat my original payment.
Sorry I am not around much either her or TOP, but it has been a hell of a year.
Happy Xmas and a prosperous 2009 everyone.
Yes . . .

Exactly FC, I thought it would provide a little entertainment during these long Winter evenings.
Anyone who had been following Seil Chat would understand a possible over-sensitivity and SOH failure on my part re. forums . . . that and having never been busier Webcraft-wise while teaching 3 days a week - I have been working 7 days a week 10 - 12 hours a day, sometimes more, and am a bit knackered at the mo - but it was the last day teaching this year today and most of my pre-Christmas promises re. new websites are fulfilled, so hopefully I can start to unwind a bit now.
Next year more sailing-teaching, maybe do my YMI, maybe take Fairwinds back to Portugal at the end of the year . . .

Just trying to help deflect what appears to be mounting criticism. Wish I hadn't bothered now.

As you can see from the state of the boat I've still got a bit of snagging to do before she goes back in the water so I'm in no desperate rush for a new burgee.
If Nick has the patience and energy to continue with this then I'm happy to wait to get it right rather than rush into something not so good.
Good on you Nick
PS..........., where is it
I'd say . . .

Judging from the mix of trees I'd say Ardnamurchan, Loch Sunart?
