Multihull Fun

Post by Mark »

I was lucky enough to have a go on a 36ft 80's era racing cat this weekend.

The list of things she hasn't got is long and includes: Heads, VHF, Echo sounder, Effective Engine, Cooker, Galley, Water tanks, any form of protection from spray (of which there is plenty).

We went down to Lullworth Cove on Friday. Excellent night and food, beers & pool at the Lullworth Cove Inn. Woke up at about 5am in pitch black with that 'drifting' sensation - when I pulled up the anchor hand over hand I came to a frayed end! We did touch before we got the engine going but fortunately one of the Centreboards was down which probably saved us.

Nice pics - all looks a bit Spartan, but great fun.

Incidentally, what sort of anchor did you lose?

I had to chuckle. Apparently sometimes the owner has to hold his GF to steady her while she had a dump off the back. Now that's love.

Well obviously there are all sorts of anchor available to the yachtsman but as any fool knows the Danforth is the best anchor to lose. The crappy modern ones and the CQR are really hard to properly lose. Sometimes you have to try to or three times to lose 'em whereas we lost this Danforth at the first attempt.

I have 3 "spare" Danforths in my garage if anyone wants to loose another. I'll have to wait 'till I'm at home to watch youtube :O(
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.
