Re: Its been a good summer
Trying something else http://www.saltyjohntheblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Claymore-2017.jpg aha! it feckking works - only the look of surprise on my face to give me away. Oh, I see. You mean the photo hosting. For a couple of minutes I was scouring Claymore's foredeck for some newly installe...

Re: Its been a good summer
Nice to see the good ship Claymore a mere couple of moorings away from Storyline at Ardfern. Is she going to be a permanent neighbour or have you just decamped from the lagoon to make more space for this weekend's RHYC muster ? She's in to have a couple of jobs done before we sail off for endless m...

Re: Oban Pontoons
Saw a piece in the Oban Times about the pontoons last week. It mentioned the two breakwaters and I just hope they are efficient as having attempted to spend a night on the old visitors mornings I can attest as to the scale of the swell that can work it's way up the Sound in a south westerly. They mi...

Re: Gigha dilemma
Decided against it in the end and went back to the Ardmores where the skerries offer reasonable protection from the south east. In two weeks we spent 7 nights in there as we decided to make the most of being down in the south. As per usual we unfortunately witnessed a yacht running onto the 1.1 rock...

Gigha dilemma
Hello all Long time no see as sailing has taken a back seat for the past year for body falling apart type reasons but now back at the helm again :) Anyway, we are currently in Port Ellen and blessed with sun and want to go over to Gigha but there are fresh (F5-6) south easterlies forecast for overni...

Re: Mobile Phone Coverage on the West Coast
There is a 3 mast on the bottom end of Mull which gives 3G coverage in that area (this is second hand info). As you can get some cards free and just, load them with £10 each, this year I plan to get a variety and test them. I have also been told that Virgin has arrangements with several carriers and ...

Maybe they could be turned off at Imbolc Imbolc or Imbolg (pronounced i-molk or i-molg ), also called (Saint) Brighid's Day (Irish: Lá Fhéile Bríde, Scottish Gaelic: Là Fhèill Brìghde, Manx: Laa'l Breeshey), is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring. Most commonly it is held on 1 February...

Not sure I agree with that, nothing like a bit of group moaning !Piperatsea wrote: .....
So spend a few minutes and fill in the consultation instead of preaching to the converted. If you don't you have no right to complain.

Re: YOTBLOG - NOW READ THIS
The site made for Claymore looks great - WordPress seems to have cornered the market for blogging. Really enjoyed reading about Silkie's dolphin experience also. Have obviously had our fair share of cetacean encounters but never for as long as that. The big question is whether Nick's act of altruism...

Re: BGS Survey of Loch Lomond
Liked the upper reaches where it had a canyon feel. Also, having only driven past it on 'that' road, I did not realise there were so many islands.

..... What did you think caused viral pneumonia? Pneumonia is inflammation of the lung(s) and may be caused by bacteria, viruses or (less commonly) other agents. Did not realise there were two varieties - just thought it was pneumonia. Actually did not really know anything about it apart from it be...
