Re: Bulk Purchase again anyone? Antifoul?
Great, thanks Geoff. I'm also in West Lothian so could pick up from your house if that's OK. If you could pm your address and bank details and a phone number I will give you a call to sort out a time over the next couple of weeks.

Re: Bulk Purchase again anyone? Antifoul?
Hi Geoff, I do appreciate your efforts on the group buys. I am still wearing in my anchor chain and have been very impressed by the amount of zinc added in the exercise. Just end-for-ended it this weekend so that it all gets the nibs worn off, just need a bit of extra thought now in interpreting the...

Re: NASA Target HF3W SSB Receiver - Can You Listen To BBC Ra
Yes, R4 comes through fine on 198 kHz, and 5 Live on 909. Nice little radio. Bought a 2nd hand one recently and have been playing around receiving weather faxes using a neat little app (HF Weather Fax) on my android tablet that generates the image just by putting its microphone close enough to the r...

St Kilda Film
Following a trip to St. Kilda last week I have become mesmerised by the place. Have been trawling the web to find more on the history. I thought I would share a wonderful film I have discovered giving an account of a visit by the supply ship 'Hebrides' in the 1920s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W...

Night time anchoring
Took a trip down to West Loch Tarbert this weekend, arriving after midnight with both chart plotter and tablet backup running and trying not to think too much about fishing buoys - fortunately there was a bit of moon. I had planned to anchor in the first little bay just around the north point of the...

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
That was probably me you saw this morning around 8. I was in a bit of a rush to get to work otherwise I would have tracked you down to thank you. Very pleased with the chain, should last a good few more years now.

Re: MAYDAY
I'd offer to lend it to you, but it is on my e-book reader - one of the disadvantages of e-books. A good read though and I would recommend it. Quite interesting how it becomes clear that the doesn't want to do anything else in life except circle the globe time after time; it can obviously be addicti...

Re: MAYDAY
Hi Shard, read Les Powles' book over Christmas, not sure you will find a better boat if his tales of daring do are to be believed.

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
Hi Geoff, Thanks for the update. Unless someone else followed my cunning strategy of splitting the length between two blue Ikea bags so that I could lift it in two sections, that's my chain (Phil B). No swivels or shackles on it, but a C-link joint about a third along the length. I'm in no rush unti...

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power
Thanks Geoff, very good of you to organise all of this for everyone. I will be collecting my chain from the boat this weekend while I am up there checking what Abigail has done to her. I will try to get it to Cumbernauld one morning next week. I assume that if I just say to the guys 'Geoff sent me' ...

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power
Put me down for chain regalvanising too, 50 M of 8 mm. My new Vulcan doesn't need attention yet after only one season's use - fortunately . Linlithgow based so central belt delivery not a problem.

Re: Mapping delays AIS, GPS
I have noticed this with my setup (NASA AIS3 engine and Garmin GPSMap 620). Just added the AIS this season so I assumed this was simply the delay imposed by the rather complex timeslot system AIS uses, but you've got me wondering now. I also have targets dropping out/lost only to appear again a few ...
