More photos from the blue: South Georgia Island

Regulars will remember our photos from Antarctica , Patagonia , and the Falklands from a little while ago. It’s been promised for a while, and it’s finally here: Peter’s expedition out into the deep South Atlantic, to remote and inhospitable South Georgia. This is the most extensive write-up and col...

Re: Photos: Staten Island Patagonia & The Falklands, more pi

Just bouncing this with an update to our Falklands journal. Kiwi Roa is still in Stanley and has done a little more cruising around the islands, and a few new photos have been added. Some old friends, and some new ones, turned up in Stanley this year. All are interesting characters that take the pat...

Re: The New Generation of Small Boat Anchors

The different speed is the result of constant force applied but different setting behaviors. The test is perfectly fair. If your boat wipes off quickly in strong winds and is rapidly doing 5 knots downwind, that's just tough for the anchor. In any case, the video above was posted originally to serve...

Thought I'd add this. Our table, containing the summary comments from West Marine as published in their 2007 catalog. Relates to the Yachting Monthly testing, but direct from the source so-to-speak.

You'll have to talk to the distributor Silkie. Frankly they have quite limited stock at the moment, and I know they've pre-sold a lot already, so they may not feel the need for introductory discounts. Why sell a product you need to discount to move?

Anyway you could try your luck.

Re: Anchors

Hi all. I have to confess to having only one anchor, a 20lb plough (not CQR) and so intend to add another different anchor for next season. The new anchor would become no.1 bower with the plough relegated to the no.2 spot. I'm tempted by a 10kg Sword (Alain says that the 5kg one will do the trick bu...
