Re: Sods law of the Sea scuppers Summer sailing plans
I'm not so sure it's been that dreadful. I've just had a great week from Stavanger back to Argyll, we had some fab sailing. Looking forward to the rest of the summer.

for sale: 2 x GILL Crew jackets (S & L)
We've got two spare Gill Crew jackets. Gill say: "The perfect choice for sailing, travelling, or just out and about. The crew jacket offers performance and protection with its use of a durable, waterproof and breathable 2dot fabric and warm fleece lining" Both are in great condition - bare...

Re: Oban Marina
We left the boat there for a days in August. They were perfectly courteous. I was advised beforehand (when I phoned to check there was a berth available) that water was limited. One of the ferry crew could benefit from "speaking with customers" lessons, but the others were great. I think t...

Re: iPad as a plotter
I've just downloaded MaxSea on the iPad. On first inspection, it's excellent, and far better than MemoryMap for UKHO raster charts - it even includes live animations of tides and tidal streams (as Navionics and most of the other vector chart plotters and apps do now). The app is free (on iOS) and UK...

Re: Following the Ipad thread
I find Orange/ EE better for coverage of the W coast better than Vodafone (although for the Highlands, Voda is better...). I have EE on the iPad and Voda on the phone, and as mm5aho said, I quite like the redundancy/ resilience of having two networks. EE, again echoing earlier comments, tends to hav...

Re: iPad as a plotter
Does anyone have the DVD of memory-map UKHO charts for UK & Ireland? I'm trying to find out what format the charts are in (memory map haven't responded to my query...). Is it BSB?
Reason for query is that I'm keen to use them with GPSNavX on my Mac. BSB will work fine with this.
thanks,

Re: iphone chartplotter
I have navionics and memory map (with UKHO and Antares charts) on both iPhone and iPad. I don't use the iPhone for navigation, but do find it useful for plotting weekend fun when on the train to work etc. One advantage of navionics over MM is tide & stream data. However, using the phone for pilo...

Usually 9.5 - 10. These are just a week bit too big for me, and are quite broad (for my narrowish feet).

Musto deck shoes
Hi guys - new member, first post :-) I've a pair of Musto deck shoes - pretty much as these http://www.musto.com/fcp/product/Outdoor-Clothing/Sailing-Boots-and-Shoes/LEATHER-PERFORMANCE-DECK-SHOE/255?colour=brown but in a darker shade of brown. Got them last year, used for about 7 days total but the...
