Re: New moorings and pontoon in Ardminish Bay, Gigha
We had a coffee stop at the boathouse last weekend (would have been lunch, but since they don't take cards and the cash machine at the local shop was out of action we moved along). Met an unimpressed chap from Cushendall who had spent the night alongside at the pontoon, to allow easy access to land ...

Re: Craignure to Tobermory friday night
Thanks Steve, ours are sorted on an earlier ferry, glad you got your transfer arranged. Andy Let me check - I have someone coming to Tobermory Friday evening to join our boat, just not sure what ferry they are crossing on. Will let you know tomorrow. Thanks, Tobermory Taxi came up trumps on this, ge...

Re: Craignure to Tobermory friday night
Anyone going Craignure to Tobermory from the later ferry ( 2200 sailing from Oban) can give a lift to my wife on friday night? Its a long shot, but no taxis available or willing to do it. Let me check - I have someone coming to Tobermory Friday evening to join our boat, just not sure what ferry the...

WHYW charter
Quick question - does anyone know of charter companies that permit use for WHYW? We're looking to enter next year but currently boatless. Have met charter boats there before but not sure the crews were entirely honest with the charter companies (despite appearing on the start list for all to see).

Re: Yachts on moorings - etiquette
When kayaking on some rivers in Norway in 2001 we returned to the campsite (full of fellow boaters) to find a very somber mood. One of the Eastern Europe paddlers had not returned home from a solo run, and an empty kayak, one shoe and a buoyancy aid had been found washed up on a shingle bank below t...

Re: Volvo Race
There was a mark of the course off the Brazilian coast which took them over there in the first place. The subsequent run down the coast then low crossing to Cape Town was to avoid the St Helena high higher up in the S Atlantic. Decent race so far, the move to one design seems to have paid off.

Re: Round Mull
Geoff, The Erraid steamer channel caught someone again, which looked sore. Both Stoirm Mhor and Ajax had a crunch on the rock. Spoke with Ajax later and they seemed happy no damage done. Bodach just added it to his collection of rock encounters.... We thought someone also hit the rocks just after t...

Re: Round Shuna Race
Entered one year but it was cancelled due to excess wind (they have dinghies taking part and it was decided that having watched a 45ft Oyster fail to get cleanly off the pontoons at Craobh, it might be unpleasant for the wee boats). Course is any direction round Shuna, and each boat is given an indi...

Re: 2014 calendars
Apologies to all but work has kept me away from home, where all my boat pics and the software to create the calendars is sitting on the home PC. I was hoping to get them done finally tonight, but now off on the road again until Friday evening. I'll get a few months worth done this weekend as things ...
